Road-Tripped was a laugh out loud funny enemies-to-lovers story about two ad agency co-workers on a trip around America in the “Silver Dildo”. I laughed, I laugh-cried and then I laughed some more! This was a hidden gem, and one I’m grateful to have stumbled across!Callie is my spirit sister book character! I don’t think I’ve ever read a more relatable and more-like-me character ever! Sure, she was a little stand offish at times, but behind those scathing looks and quick one-liners she was she was guarding herself. If you don’t open yourself up to people, you can’t get hurt, and she’s been hurt enough to last a lifetime.
On top of that she’s an identical twin, and so am I! It was in my destiny to read this book, and fall in love with Callie.
Walker was as unexpected, and as loved as Callie. He is the perfect book boyfriend, he’s got the manners of a true southern gentleman, I’ll be honest, I spent a large chunk of my reading time laughing at Callie trying to get him to swear. But, don’t let those manners fool you! Walker best described himself….
“I keep my dirty words in the sheets, not on the streets.”
How were these two every going to cope spending two months cooped up in close quarters, while pretending to be in a fake relationship? I had no idea going in what was going to happen, but I was so excited to find out. From the first page the story and the characters gripped me, everyone who graced the pages (or screen of my iPad) had a purpose and left a lasting impression - from Skip to Bob & Bev, to Josephine. Oh! Josephine when I grow up, I’m going to be an awesome grandma just like you! There was no filler to this story, every scene and event played an important role in shaping both Callie and Walker.
I’ve mentioned the humour, but that’s not to say that the author didn’t put my emotions through the wringer, because she did! Ms Archer managed to perfectly incorporate some heavier and more serious topics into the story, but did it in such a way that it didn’t bring the feeling of the story down.
Road-Tripped was more than just a story to read, it was an experience! The soundtrack is spot on, and I keep finding myself going back to it and listening.
If I could pick just one quote to sum up my reading experience, it would be:
“Are you crying?”. “Hell, no”. He took off his glasses and wiped his eyes. “Okay, maybe a little. That damn camper changed my life.”
I completely agree Walker, that damn camper and this book changed my life too! Road-Tripped is one of the funnest books I’ve ever read, and has found it’s a place on my top reads of 2016 (and being completely honest, my top reads ever) list. Do yourself a favour and pick up this fantastic novel!

RoadTripped An Enemies to Lovers Romance Ad Agency Series Book 1 edition by Nicole Archer Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Road Tripped is the first book in the Ad Agency series. It can be read as a standalone. If you like snarky, irreverent humor, this is your book! I thoroughly enjoyed the witty banter mixed in with addressing sticky relationship situations.
Callie is a copywriter who has been hired by a friend to help turn his business around. The problem is that the work environment encourages more play and less work. Callie has no interest in bonding with her co-workers, she’s had enough of people. Unfortunately, her boss decides that she’s perfect to replace the person who was originally supposed to handle an important advertising campaign, one that might determine the fate of the entire company. Her major issue with the assignment she’s going to have to travel across country in an RV with the co-worker she can’t stand the most, Walker the womanizer.
Walker is feeling stifled by his job. He really wants to be creating art, but it hasn’t proven successful in the money department. What’s more, he is done with women swarming him. He’s even more frustrated when he finds out that he’s got to spend the road trip for the advertising campaign with the grouchy, sarcastic Callie.
Reluctantly the two co-workers set out to save the ad agency and their jobs. Along the way they have many adventures, and several misunderstandings that reveal the dimensions of their character and the past events that shaped who they are.
Callie Murphy, after walking away from everything else, turned to her old friend Skip Shimura for help and he set her up with a copywriter job at the advertising agency he never wanted to inherit.
Withdrawn within herself as she licks the wounds that are still all too fresh, she has little interest in getting to know her co-workers, going out after work for drinks (or having drinks at work for that matter). Most especially, even though he's hot enough to look at, she wants to avoid Walker Rhodes who, so far as she can tell has slept with every other woman in the office, and she has no intention of adding herself to that list.
As luck would have it though, one of those other women has to pull out of an advertising promotion that involves spending a couple of months on the road, with Walker, in an RV, and guess who's tapped to fill her spot?
Callie loathes Walker and everything his manwhorish ways represent, Walker can't stand Callie and her superior, judgmental attitude, but somehow they have to find a way to work together, because there's much more riding on this trip than just their egos.
It's that necessity to find a way to work together that starts breaking down the barriers between them, but even so, the breaches in those barriers are like holes punched through a wall, never allowing either to see the other clearly meaning that preconceived notions and assumptions still make up a large part of how they each see the other, even as they start forming an unlikely friendship.
Though there are some absolutely hilarious scenes and scenarios interspersed with others dramatic, sexy, romantic and tragic, I found this particular story to be loads of fun to read because the writing itself was fun to read. Nicole Archer's style is quirky and irreverent, but in a way that comes across, to me at least, as being incredibly honest and open, and I connected with it right from the first page.
Combining that with a well conceived, paced and intricate story, heavy on the laughs but perfectly balanced with more serious moments leaves you with a story that's surprisingly thoughtful and tender in all the right ways.
